Katie Evans, a British teacher who has been living in Doha for the past six months, described frightening scenes as missiles were launched toward Qatar.

“Doors were shaking,” she said. “You could hear the missiles overhead. You could actually feel it.”

The strikes came after the U.S. and Israel carried out attacks on Iran, prompting Tehran to target neighboring countries that host American military bases, including Qatar.

Evans, originally from Liverpool, said she had just finished a morning gym class when Qatari authorities issued an alert instructing residents to seek shelter.

“I didn’t really know what was happening at first,” she explained. “I just saw the warning and headed to the nearest safe place, which was a friend’s home.”

As she made her way there, she began seeing reports of the escalating conflict. Air raid sirens sounded nearby, and there were concerns about falling debris following explosions.

Evans said the situation lasted for hours. “You could see and hear missiles being intercepted in the sky,” she said.

Qatar’s Ministry of Defense later stated that it had successfully intercepted several projectiles aimed at the country.

“Everyone was worried,” Evans added. “Our employers were messaging to check in, telling us to stay safe and reassuring us.”

She is currently sheltering with four friends — three British and one Kenyan — as they wait for authorities to lift safety directives.

Despite the tense situation, Evans spoke warmly about her life in the region. She previously lived in Oman for five years and said she has always loved the Middle East.

“Doha is just lovely — it’s an amazing place to live,” she said. “I really love this part of the world.”
