Tim Walz Stuns Press by Ending Briefing Without Taking Questions

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz stunned reporters on Monday when he abruptly walked out of his press conference without taking a single question.

Earlier in the day, Walz confirmed that he would abandon his bid for a third term as governor as Minnesota faces one of the largest fraud scandals in U.S. history — a crisis that has unfolded under his watch.

“Like many Minnesotans, I was glad to turn the page on 2025,” Walz said, calling it “an extraordinarily difficult year” that “ended on a particularly sour note.”

Despite the enormous failures of state oversight, Walz attempted to shift blame — even attacking President Donald Trump and his supporters rather than taking responsibility for what happened.

“I don’t want to mince words here,” Walz said, claiming that Trump and conservatives want to “make our state a colder and meaner place.”

After speaking for barely seven minutes — and promising to answer questions — Walz abruptly walked away as his staff cut off the press.

“Wow,” one reporter said, as another shouted, “I thought you said you were going to take questions? Why didn’t you?”

The fraud scandal dogging Walz continues to grow. Federal prosecutors have charged more than 90 people — many tied to Minnesota’s Somali community — in what authorities say may be the largest COVID-era criminal scheme in the nation. The amount stolen from programs meant to feed and support vulnerable families could reach as high as $9 billion.

The scandal has drawn sharp criticism from President Trump and Republicans nationwide, who say Walz’s administration failed spectacularly to safeguard taxpayer dollars in a state once known for clean government.

Walz’s office now claims he will take questions — but only after walking away from reporters the first time.
