Drew Barrymore is proudly embracing her natural, makeup-free look at 50, sharing an honest video on Instagram to celebrate the beauty of aging.
“Aging is a privilege,” she wrote across the clip. “It is not something to fear.”
Wearing a hoodie and her hair in a casual bun, Barrymore showed her bare face to the camera, adding in the caption that growing older is something she will “never take for granted.”
Many celebrities applauded her message.
Bella Thorne commented, “We need more of this!!!”
Actress and podcaster Giovanna Fletcher added, “Yes. A thousand times, YES! How lucky we are to be here, living life.”
On a past episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, a fan asked her about aging gracefully. Barrymore explained that she hasn’t had cosmetic procedures and hopes to stay that way, while also supporting each person’s right to choose what feels best for them. “The only thing I know is: don’t judge other people because they do things differently,” she said.
Although she’s open about struggling with imperfections at times, Barrymore said she doesn’t feel the need to change them. Reflecting on turning 50, she shared that this past decade has brought her the most personal growth — and finally, peace.
Barrymore has also spoken about society’s pressure on women to look young. During an interview with Jamie Lee Curtis, she agreed that beauty standards can be damaging. “I don’t want to fight nature,” she said. “I’m raising two daughters, and I want them to know that aging is safe and beautiful.”
Recently, Barrymore partnered with Dove to push back against anti-aging marketing aimed at children and to promote healthy self-esteem. “Let’s never fear getting older,” she said. “It truly is a privilege.”
Her message of confidence and authenticity continues to inspire women — reminding us that aging is something to honor, not hide.
