The crime comedy series “Good Cop/Bad Cop” is not expected to return for a second season. Despite earning strong critical praise — reaching a 91% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes — the Leighton Meester-led show was apparently canceled after just one year.

The news came from actor Luke Cook, who announced the decision in a TikTok video (via TVLine), although The CW has not yet released an official statement.

“It’s sad to say this, but we won’t be doing a second season of Good Cop/Bad Cop,” Cook said. “I loved making the show and formed great friendships with the cast, the crew, and creator John Quaintance. It’s a shame we can’t continue. Hollywood can make dreams come true — but it can also break hearts.”

The story followed a brother-and-sister detective duo in a small Pacific Northwest town and received praise for balancing humor and drama, as well as for the cast’s performances, especially Meester’s. Audiences also responded positively: approval reached 92%, and the show quickly entered Prime Video’s Top 10 after its streaming debut.

The series originally aired on The CW between February and April 2025 and was a co-production between The CW, The Roku Channel, and Australia’s Stan. Even with good reception and a solid initial performance, the project failed to secure new funding to continue.

Producers had hoped to find new partners to enable a second season, but apparently that did not materialize — bringing the story to an end after just one season.
