HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A Harris County judge is facing growing criticism—not over a legal ruling, but for his conduct toward a courthouse staff member.

A video that quickly spread online over the weekend shows Judge Nathan Milliron in a tense interaction with an IT technician who had entered the courtroom to assist with a computer issue.

In the footage, the situation escalates after the technician appears to describe the issue as a “false alarm.” The judge sharply disagrees, responding firmly: “No, it wasn’t a false alarm.” He then admonishes the staffer, saying, “Don’t joke around. I’m serious about this. It was happening. Get out of my courtroom.”

Moments later, the judge is heard expressing frustration under his breath.

Judge Milliron, who has been on the bench since January 2025, declined to comment when approached on Monday and did not permit cameras inside his courtroom, where he continued to preside over proceedings in the 215th District Court.

Court officials confirmed that the IT technician is part of the district’s support staff. Colleagues, speaking off camera, described him as dependable and widely respected, noting that he frequently assists judges with technical matters and maintains a professional approach to his work.

Retired Judge Mike Schneider, while not addressing the incident directly, emphasized the expectations placed on members of the judiciary. “Judges are required to be patient, dignified, and courteous to everyone,” he said, including staff, attorneys, and witnesses.

Concerns about judicial behavior can be submitted to the State Commission on Judicial Conduct, which reviews complaints and determines whether action is warranted. However, those proceedings are not made public.

There is no indication that Judge Milliron has faced prior disciplinary action, and it remains unclear whether any formal complaints have been filed regarding this incident.

As an elected official, the judge is not subject to direct disciplinary action by local court administrators. Still, Rabeea Collier, the administrative judge for the civil courts, issued a statement acknowledging the situation.

“We are aware of the concerns raised regarding the widely circulated footage,” Collier said. “All members of the judicial system are expected to uphold professionalism, respect, and impartiality.”

She added that established procedures are in place to address such concerns and ensure accountability, while reaffirming the court’s commitment to serving the public with fairness, dignity, and respect.
