Sequel to 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie' Officially Titled 'The Super Mario Galaxy Movie'
Universal Pictures and Illumination have officially revealed the title for the highly anticipated sequel to the cinematic phenomenon "The Super Mario Bros. Movie": "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie". It is scheduled for release on April 3, 2026.
The announcement was made during a Nintendo Direct presentation on Friday, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the original "Super Mario Bros." game, which was first released on September 13, 1985. The event featured a teaser for the sequel, which begins with Mario napping under a tree with Princess Peach's castle in the distance. The camera then pans up towards space, with quick glimpses of a Monty Mole burrowing underground, Cheep Cheeps swimming in a stream, and Toads scurrying around the castle.
The title is a direct homage to Nintendo's acclaimed video game, "Super Mario Galaxy," released for the Wii in 2007.

The plot follows plumbers Mario and Luigi, who are transported from Brooklyn to the Mushroom Kingdom. There, Mario must team up with Princess Peach, Toad, and Donkey Kong to save Luigi from the clutches of the evil Koopa King, Bowser.
