Real Madrid vs. Athletic Club: Possible Lineups for LaLiga Matchday 38

Real Madrid will close out the season this Saturday at the Santiago Bernabéu against Athletic Club in a match defined more by emotion and farewells than by standings.
Los Blancos have already secured second place in LaLiga and a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League, meaning the result will not affect their final position. However, after a campaign viewed as disappointing by many supporters, the team hopes to end the season on a positive note and give fans one last victory at home.
The match will also carry strong symbolic meaning for several members of the club. It is expected to be the final Bernabéu appearance for veterans such as Dani Carvajal and David Alaba, while also marking Álvaro Arbeloa’s farewell from the Madrid bench.
Meanwhile, Athletic Club also enters the match with little left to play for after its hopes of qualifying for European competition ended in previous rounds. Still, a victory at the Bernabéu could indirectly impact the race for Conference League qualification depending on results involving teams such as Getafe, Espanyol, and Rayo Vallecano.
Real Madrid will also be without Vinícius Júnior, who was granted permission to temporarily leave training camp in Valdebebas and join Brazil’s national team early as preparations begin for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The match corresponds to Matchday 38 of LaLiga and will be played Saturday, May 23, at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
