Police Continue Search for Missing Illinois Father and 22-Month-Old Son

Authorities in Illinois and Wisconsin are searching for a father and his 22-month-old son after the pair disappeared during what family members described as a routine afternoon walk.

According to the McHenry Police Department, Todd Sabatini, 36, left his home in McHenry, Illinois, around 12 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8, with his young son, Theo Sabatini, for what relatives said was a normal outing.

When the two had not returned home by approximately 4 p.m., family members became concerned and contacted police. Investigators said the situation was unusual because Todd had no known plans for an extended trip and reportedly did not have the supplies necessary to care for his son for a prolonged period.

During the investigation, officers located Theo's stroller behind a local business. Surveillance footage later showed Todd and Theo at a Jewel-Osco supermarket, where Todd was reportedly attempting to speak with someone associated with Zion Lutheran Church. Police also said he briefly spoke with an employee at a nearby Taco Bell.

Investigators later determined that Todd used a rideshare service to travel to Greenfield, Wisconsin, where he visited the Greenfield Police Department and spoke with an officer. Authorities said the father and son left the police station on foot at approximately 2 p.m. on Aug. 8.

Because investigators consider Todd's actions to be out of character, the McHenry Police Department is working closely with the Greenfield Police Department in an effort to locate both father and son and ensure their safety.

Officials said the investigation remains active and that they are following multiple leads regarding the pair's whereabouts.

Police have also updated Todd's description, noting that he is now clean-shaven, unlike some of the photographs released to the public that show him with facial hair.

Theo was last seen wearing a blue shirt and dark-colored shorts, while Todd was reportedly dressed in a blue-and-black flannel shirt, gray tank top, jeans and Converse shoes.

Authorities believe the pair may still be in the Greenfield area or may have returned to Illinois, including the McHenry region. Both have been entered into national law enforcement databases as missing persons.
