NuScale Reports Strong Second Quarter as Global SMR Projects Advance

NuScale Power highlighted significant commercial and financial progress during the second quarter of 2026, underscoring continued momentum in the deployment of its advanced small modular reactor (SMR) technology across key international markets.

One of the company's most notable developments involves its exclusive global strategic partner, ENTRA1 Energy, which continues negotiations with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) toward a definitive power purchase agreement. If finalized, the initiative could become the largest nuclear power deployment program ever undertaken in the United States.

In Europe, NuScale is working alongside S.N. Nuclearelectrica S.A. and RoPower Nuclear to satisfy the remaining conditions required after shareholder approval to move forward with the Doicești SMR project in Romania. The planned facility would deploy six NuScale Power Modules (NPMs) at the site of a former coal-fired power plant, making it the most advanced small modular reactor project currently under development in Europe.

The company also strengthened its supply chain by awarding Paragon, a leading supplier of nuclear safety-related systems, a contract to complete the final design of the Highly Integrated Protection System (HIPS) for the NuScale Power Module. The agreement marks another important milestone as the company prepares for commercial deployment.

Strong Financial Position Supports Commercial Readiness

NuScale ended the second quarter with approximately $1.9 billion in cash, cash equivalents, and short- and long-term investments, providing substantial financial flexibility as it advances commercialization efforts.

"Our focus has been on building the capabilities necessary to deploy advanced nuclear technology in the near term," said John Hopkins, NuScale's President and Chief Executive Officer.

Hopkins noted that demand for reliable, carbon-free electricity continues to accelerate and emphasized that NuScale believes it is well positioned to meet that demand. He pointed to the company's distinction as the only SMR developer holding a U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission design certification, the availability of proven nuclear fuel, and a supply chain that includes more than 60 specialized partners, supported by over 30 executed agreements.

Quarterly Financial Results

For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, NuScale reported lower revenue and cost of sales compared with the same period last year.

Revenue declined by $8 million, while cost of sales decreased by $6 million, primarily because the company recognized significant engineering revenue during 2025 from Fluor's Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) Phase 2 work supporting the Romanian RoPower project. With that phase completed late last year, there was no comparable engineering activity contributing to revenue during the second quarter of 2026.

Despite the year-over-year decline in revenue, the company emphasized that its strong balance sheet and continued progress on strategic partnerships leave it well positioned as global interest in next-generation nuclear energy continues to grow.
