The Pokémon Company has officially unveiled the next expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, with Delta Reign set to bring back one of the franchise’s most iconic Pokémon. Leading the new release is the long-awaited return of Mega Rayquaza, which makes its first appearance in the Pokémon TCG in more than a decade.

The new expansion arrives as Mega Evolutions regain the spotlight following their return in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, continuing the revival of one of the series' most popular gameplay mechanics. Delta Reign is scheduled for a global release on November 6, while players attending Play! Pokémon prerelease events will have an opportunity to experience the set beginning October 24.

Mega Rayquaza Returns After 10 Years

Mega Rayquaza last appeared in the Pokémon TCG in the XY: Ancient Origins expansion released in 2015, making its return one of the most anticipated moments for collectors and competitive players alike.

Its comeback follows its recent appearance in Pokémon TCG Pocket's Ruler of the Skies expansion, further highlighting the Legendary Pokémon's renewed prominence across the franchise.

New Mega Evolutions Join the Expansion

Mega Rayquaza won't be the only Mega Evolution featured in Delta Reign. The expansion will also introduce:

• Mega Golurk

• Mega Malamar

• Mega Golisopod

These Pokémon were recently introduced in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, continuing the strong connection between the video game and the trading card game.

Legendary Stadium Cards Debut

One of the expansion's most notable additions is the introduction of Legendary Stadium cards. These special cards feature artwork that connects to form larger panoramic illustrations, with The Pokémon Company confirming that both matching halves can be found within the same booster pack.

Packed With Collectible Cards

Delta Reign will include:

• 14 Illustration Rare cards

• 6 Special Illustration Rare cards

The international release is based primarily on Japan's Storm Emeralda expansion, which launched earlier this year. However, the global version will include additional exclusive content.

Collectors also expect several Illustration Rare cards originally released in Japan's Mega Starter Decks, including artwork featuring Eevee, Zorua, and Sprigatito, to be incorporated into Delta Reign. Meanwhile, the Illustration Rare Kyogre card will instead be distributed as the Elite Trainer Box promotional card.

A Major Release for Pokémon TCG Fans

With the return of Mega Evolution cards, new collectible rarities, and the highly anticipated comeback of Mega Rayquaza, Delta Reign is shaping up to be one of the biggest Pokémon TCG releases of the year. The expansion also serves as part of the franchise's ongoing 30th anniversary celebration, giving longtime fans another reason to look forward to its November launch.
