Dallas Wings Snap Skid with Nail-Biting Win Over Fever

INDIANAPOLIS — Maddy Siegrist matched her career-high with 22 points in her first start since June 6, while Li Yueru provided a spark off the bench with 20, helping the Dallas Wings survive a late Indiana Fever surge to win 81-80 and snap a five-game losing streak.

Dallas appeared to be in control after Paige Bueckers’ slick wraparound pass set up Myisha Hines-Allen for a three-pointer, extending their lead to 78-61 with 6:38 remaining. However, the Wings went cold, managing just one more field goal—a clutch and-one by Yueru at the 2:31 mark—as Indiana mounted a furious comeback.

Playing without Caitlin Clark (groin) for the 20th time this season, the Fever stormed back with a 19-3 run, capped by Kelsey Mitchell’s tough driving bucket to cut the deficit to one with 33.4 seconds left. After Bueckers missed a potential dagger from mid-range, Indiana had one last chance. Mitchell’s contested corner three at the buzzer clanked off the side of the backboard, sealing Dallas’ narrow escape.

Mitchell led Indiana (18-15) with 24 points, including four threes, while Natasha Howard notched her eighth double-double (12 points, 12 rebounds). Aliyah Boston and Sophie Cunningham added 14 apiece.

For Dallas (9-24), Bueckers finished with 16 points and eight assists, extending her streak of double-digit scoring to all 26 games this season. The Wings, who had dropped 11 of their last 13, were without Arike Ogunbowale (right knee).

Indiana’s injury woes worsened recently with Aari McDonald (broken foot) and Sydney Colson (torn ACL) ruled out for the season. Despite trailing by 14 early, the Fever closed the first half on a 9-0 run to tie the game at 42—a sign of the resilience that nearly delivered a dramatic win.
