Federal prosecutors accused brothers Oren, Tal and Alon Alexander of operating a scheme for more than a decade in which they allegedly drugged, sexually assaulted and raped multiple women. The three men were formally charged in Manhattan in December 2024.
On Monday, a jury composed of six men and six women returned a verdict following a monthlong trial that included testimony from more than 30 witnesses. Jurors began deliberations the previous Thursday.
During opening statements, prosecutor Madison Smyser alleged that the brothers lured women with invitations to parties and trips before assaulting them. The defendants have consistently denied the accusations.
Eleven women testified during the trial, including six who were part of the federal indictment.
One accuser, who testified under the pseudonym Katie Moore, told the court she was drugged and assaulted by Alon Alexander after a night at a New York City nightclub. She described feeling sudden loss of control after drinking a beverage she had been given.
“My body started to sway,” she said, adding that the sensation was unlike ordinary intoxication and felt abrupt.
Moore testified that Alon and Tal Alexander later convinced her and a friend to leave the club. She said she only vaguely remembered getting into a taxi and later regained awareness while lying naked on a bed with Alon Alexander standing over her.
She told the jury she attempted to get up several times but was pushed back down before eventually telling him she did not want to have sex. According to her testimony, he responded, “You already did.”
Prosecutors also accused Oren Alexander of sexual exploitation of a minor, alleging that in 2009 he filmed and shared a video involving an incapacitated 17-year-old girl. The woman, now 34, testified that she has no memory of meeting him.
Two additional witnesses told jurors they felt physically paralyzed before being assaulted by Oren and Alon Alexander.
Defense attorneys challenged the credibility of several accusers, arguing that the encounters were consensual and suggesting some claims were financially motivated.
Tal Alexander’s attorney, Deanna Paul, argued during closing statements that the women had met the brothers voluntarily and were free to leave at any time. She also questioned whether prosecutors had proven that any commercial sex acts occurred.
Marc Agnifilo, attorney for Oren Alexander, acknowledged his client had built a lifestyle centered around socializing and pursuing relationships but denied the criminal accusations.
“They may have hurt people’s feelings while rising professionally,” he told jurors, “but that does not make them rapists.”
In response, Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth Espinosa argued the defense was attempting to confuse the jury and questioned why multiple women would come forward years later to publicly recount deeply personal experiences.
The brothers were originally charged in a 12-count indictment, though prosecutors later dropped two counts after a witness did not appear to testify.
In addition to the criminal case, the Alexander brothers are facing numerous civil lawsuits. They have denied all allegations of misconduct. Oren and Alon Alexander are also facing separate criminal charges in Florida.
Last week, a Beverly Hills real estate broker filed another civil lawsuit accusing Oren Alexander of drugging and sexually assaulting her during a dinner in 2014. His civil attorney, Jason Goldman, dismissed the claim as false and said the lawsuit was filed shortly before jury deliberations in an attempt to influence the proceedings.
