Lufthansa Flight Diverted to Boston After In-Flight Security Incident

A Lufthansa flight traveling from San Francisco to Munich made an unscheduled landing at Boston Logan International Airport on Thursday morning following an onboard security incident involving a passenger.

According to Massachusetts State Police, authorities were alerted shortly before 8 a.m. after reports of a disturbance aboard the aircraft. During the flight, a passenger allegedly became aggressive and was involved in an altercation with another traveler. Crew members intervened and restrained the individual, who was secured in their seat for the remainder of the flight.

As a precautionary measure, the aircraft was diverted to Boston, where law enforcement and airport security personnel were prepared to respond upon arrival.

Officials stated that the incident remains under investigation and that they had not yet confirmed whether any passengers or crew members suffered injuries.

In a statement, Lufthansa said the diversion was necessary due to the actions of a disruptive passenger who posed a potential risk to the safe continuation of the flight.

Upon landing, security authorities took the individual into custody, and the passenger's luggage was removed from the aircraft before the journey resumed.

After refueling and completing required security procedures, the flight continued on its route to Munich. Lufthansa reported that 508 passengers were onboard and that the aircraft was expected to arrive at its destination later that evening.
