The team behind Scary Movie 6 appears to be stirring up excitement in a big way.

Overnight, social media lit up after fans began sharing news of a leaked trailer for the long-awaited sixth installment of the franchise. The sequel arrives 13 years after Scary Movie 5, and while the leaked footage isn’t being circulated here, early reactions online have been overwhelmingly enthusiastic. Even franchise mastermind Marlon Wayans joined in on the buzz.

On Instagram, Wayans posted a playful video of himself heading into a movie theater to catch the teaser, which is reportedly being shown ahead of Scream 7. “Bootlegging my own teaser,” he joked in the caption.

According to Geo TV, an industry insider says the official trailer is scheduled to drop online Monday, March 2. Horror outlet Dread Central has already praised the preview, calling it “better than we could have ever imagined,” noting that it parodies nearly every major horror release in recent years. The reported tagline says it all: “Every line will be crossed.”

Deadline reports that much of the original cast is returning, including Marlon and Shawn Wayans, Anna Faris, Regina Hall and Cheri Oteri. While plot details remain under wraps, online chatter suggests the film will spoof modern horror hits such as Get Out, Nope, and A Quiet Place, along with newer titles like M3GAN, Terrifier, The Substance, Weapons and more.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Wayans promised the film will be “no holds barred” and an “equal opportunity offender.” He added, “We just want to make everybody laugh, and we don’t care if you’re sensitive. Even sensitive people need to laugh at themselves.”

The screenplay is written by the Wayans brothers alongside longtime collaborator Rick Alvarez, who also serves as producer. Michael Tiddes directs.

Scary Movie 6 is set to hit theaters on June 12.
