Brandon Blackstock, Kelly Clarkson’s Ex-Husband, Dies at 48 After Cancer Battle

Brandon Blackstock, Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband and former manager, passed away on Thursday after a years-long battle with cancer, his family announced. He was 48.

"It is with great sadness that we share the news of Brandon Blackstock’s passing," a representative said in a statement. "Brandon fought cancer courageously for over three years. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers and ask for privacy during this difficult time."

The announcement came one day after Clarkson revealed she was postponing the remaining August dates of her Las Vegas residency due to Blackstock’s illness.

"Unfortunately, I have to postpone the rest of my August shows in Las Vegas," Clarkson shared in an Instagram post. "I usually keep my personal life private, but this past year, my children’s father has been ill, and right now, I need to be there for them."

Their Relationship
Clarkson and Blackstock married in 2013. His father, Narvel Blackstock, was Clarkson’s longtime manager. The couple had two children together: River Rose, 11, and Remy Alexander, 9. Blackstock also had two children from a previous marriage.

Clarkson filed for divorce in 2020, and their split was finalized in 2022 after a contentious legal battle, including disputes over their Montana ranch, which Clarkson was eventually awarded.

Clarkson’s Recent Absence and Speculation
In March, Clarkson took a nearly two-week break from her daytime talk show, citing only "personal reasons." At the time, fans speculated it might be related to Blackstock’s health. Reports later confirmed that Clarkson had taken their children to visit him during that time.

Clarkson recently resumed her career, including her Las Vegas residency, but now faces the heartbreaking loss of her children’s father.
