JD Vance Praises Nick Shirley for Exposing Fraud, Condemns Efforts to Silence Independent Journalism

Vice President JD Vance has publicly voiced his support for independent journalist and influencer Nick Shirley, praising his investigative work while criticizing what he described as attempts by parts of the media to discredit and silence those who expose wrongdoing.

Shirley took to X to reflect on the backlash he says followed his reporting, arguing that instead of focusing on the alleged fraud he uncovered, many media organizations shifted their attention toward attacking him personally.

"Instead of investigating the fraud, much of the mainstream media chose to investigate the person who exposed it,"Shirley wrote. "I was right, they were wrong. I work for the American people, while they worked to protect those responsible. The public deserves journalism that seeks the truth, not narratives."

In a follow-up post, Shirley said that after publishing his investigation, he became the target of repeated political labels that he believes were intended to undermine his credibility rather than address the evidence he presented.

"Rather than debate the facts, critics attempted to dismiss my reporting by attaching political labels such as 'MAGA influencer,' 'conservative journalist,' and other terms designed to distract from the investigation itself," Shirley wrote. "The focus should have been on the facts, not on creating a false narrative about the messenger."

Shirley also revealed that he has received numerous death threats and defamatory attacks since releasing his investigation. According to him, the threats have forced him to travel with private security and spend significant amounts each month to ensure his personal safety while continuing his work.

"Despite the challenges, I remain committed to pursuing the truth," he said. "The support of my followers has allowed me to continue building one of the largest independent platforms dedicated to investigative reporting."

Vice President JD Vance quickly responded by reposting Shirley's message, offering strong praise for his efforts and emphasizing the value of citizen journalism.

"Our administration owes a debt of gratitude to Nick Shirley for helping expose what we believe is one of the most significant cases of fraud the country has faced," Vance wrote. "If the media fulfilled its responsibility to the American people, it would learn from journalists who are willing to investigate issues that matter instead of attempting to silence those who uncover uncomfortable truths."

Vance's remarks underscore the administration's continued support for independent journalism and government accountability, while renewing criticism of media organizations that officials argue have prioritized political narratives over investigative reporting.
