Giorgio Armani, an icon of Italian fashion who dressed Hollywood stars, has died at the age of 91 in Milan, his company announced on Thursday (4). Known as "Re Giorgio" (King Giorgio), his name was synonymous with Italian style and elegance.

The founder and driving force behind the Armani Group, he combined the talent of a designer with exceptional business vision, building an independent empire that generates an annual revenue of approximately 2.3 billion euros.

In a statement, the group expressed "infinite sorrow" and pledged to "protect what he built and carry his company forward in his memory, with respect, responsibility, and love."

Armani had been unwell for some time, which led him to miss the Milan Men's Fashion Week in June for the first time. Figures such as actress Julia Roberts, who paid tribute to him on social media, mourned his loss.

The sole owner of the company, Armani was known for his meticulous attention to every detail of his collections and business. Despite his status, he was described by employees as approachable and down-to-earth, treating everyone as equals.

His funeral will be held privately on Monday, after a public viewing over the weekend in Milan, the city he adopted as his home.
