Long before Taylor Frankie Paul became ABC’s Bachelorette, the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star was married to Tate Paul.

The two tied the knot in 2016 and welcomed a daughter, Indy, less than a year later. In late 2019, Taylor announced she was expecting another child, and their son, Ocean, was born in 2020.

Although Taylor and Tate split in 2020, they have managed to build a successful co-parenting relationship and remain active in each other’s lives.

“I really respect his privacy, and I know that’s something he values,” Taylor exclusively told Us Weekly for her March 2026 cover story. “But we’ve always been good friends and have a very healthy co-parenting relationship.”

When asked how Tate reacted to her joining The Bachelorette, Taylor shared, “He was very supportive.”

In June 2022, Taylor went viral on social media when the Mormon MomTok “soft-swinging” scandal came to light. In a TikTok video, she explained that part of the reason for the end of her marriage was that she crossed boundaries within their “soft-swinging” agreement. During a livestream, Taylor admitted she “went beyond the agreement” by going “all the way” with another man.

Is Tate Paul single?

In September 2024, Taylor shared a rare update about Tate’s love life.

“My ex is doing really well, as far as I know,” she told Distractify. “I love him, and I love his partner, who I believe is his fiancée.”

Some fans later noticed that Tate’s partner, Bailey Paul (née Roberts), had taken his last name on Instagram. Tate eventually confirmed in his bio that he is, in fact, married.

Ahead of her season of The Bachelorette in March 2026, Taylor praised Tate for his support behind the scenes.

“I think a man who loves the mother of his children is a good man,” she told Us Weekly. “We obviously had a messy divorce, but we’re still great friends today. He has always been supportive, even during my hardest moments, always asking, ‘What can I do for you?’ And that says a lot.”

Has the divorce changed Taylor’s view on love?

Although Taylor has learned that not every marriage lasts forever, she made it clear that it hasn’t stopped her from believing in love.

“I was young. We grew apart and clearly explored different things,” she said. “But I haven’t given up on love.”

For Taylor, a piece of paper doesn’t define whether love exists between two people.

“I think people who aren’t married can still love each other, and people who are married sometimes don’t,” she said. “I think we can all agree that love is out there—I’ve seen it, and I’ve experienced it.”
