Authorities are investigating an incident that injured multiple students Friday morning, Aug. 28, at Americas High School in El Paso, Texas, prompting a temporary campus lockdown and a large law enforcement response.

According to an internal message sent to school staff, two students who were injured are in stable condition, and the individual identified as the aggressor has been taken into custody.

The Socorro Independent School District (SISD) said the incident occurred as students were arriving for class. Although the lockdown has since been lifted, the campus remains under a temporary hold while investigators continue processing the scene.

District officials confirmed that several people were injured during the altercation and were transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. The students involved have been identified, and their families have been notified directly.

The suspect was taken into custody by the Socorro Independent School District Police Department. Meanwhile, all other students and staff members remain safe under the supervision of school personnel.

A significant law enforcement presence continues at the campus, with officers from the Socorro ISD Police Department, the El Paso Police Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and emergency medical teams responding to the scene. Air medical support was also dispatched by the El Paso Fire Department.

Videos and photos shared by witnesses showed a heavy police presence surrounding the school as students gathered outside while authorities secured the area.

School officials said they will provide additional updates once the temporary hold is lifted and the investigation progresses. SISD also thanked students, parents, and the community for their patience, cooperation, and continued support during the emergency.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not yet released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
