All-Pro wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is set to play tonight for the Detroit Lions as they host the Dallas Cowboys at Ford Field for Thursday Night Football.
St. Brown exited Detroit’s Thanksgiving Day game against the Green Bay Packers in the first quarter due to an ankle injury and did not return. Although he missed practice this week, he mentioned on Tuesday that his ankle was improving and expressed his desire to play if he could effectively stop and cut as needed.
This season, St. Brown leads the Lions in targets (108), receptions (75), receiving yards (884), and receiving touchdowns (9). Meanwhile, the Cowboys rank 29th in total defense (376.2 yards allowed per game) and 30th against the pass (251.5 yards allowed per game).
However, the Lions will be without left guard Kayode Awosika, who was ruled out earlier on Thursday due to a foot injury. It remains to be seen whether the Lions will use Trystan Colon, rookie Miles Frazier, or shuffle players to fill the spot.
All six players who were questionable on Wednesday’s practice report — including left tackle Taylor Decker, center Graham Glasgow, right tackle Penei Sewell, St. Brown, defensive back Brian Branch, and running back Sione Vaki — are confirmed active for tonight’s game.
In addition to Awosika, the Lions’ inactive list includes wide receiver/returner Kalif Raymond, safety Kerby Joseph, tight end Hayden Rucci, defensive lineman Tyler Lacy, and defensive lineman Mekhi Wingo. Joseph will miss his seventh consecutive game due to a knee injury, despite returning to practice briefly this week.
Ahead of this crucial NFC matchup, the Lions have signed cornerback Nick Whiteside from the practice squad and elevated wide receiver Malik Cunningham. Detroit also placed tight end Brock Wright on the Reserve/Injured list, meaning he will be sidelined for at least the next four games.
