InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has continued its share repurchase program, buying back 508,734 ordinary shares between September 4 and September 17 as part of its ongoing strategy to return capital to shareholders.
According to regulatory filings with the London Stock Exchange, all transactions were executed through Goldman Sachs International. Following the latest purchases, IHG's outstanding share count fell to 147,350,023 ordinary shares, excluding 5,431,782 treasury shares.
Over Half a Million Shares Repurchased
The buybacks were completed over ten trading days, with daily purchases ranging from 15,000 shares to 71,742 shares, totaling 508,734 shares.
IHG confirmed that all repurchased shares will be cancelled, permanently reducing the number of shares in circulation rather than adding them to treasury holdings.
Buyback Supports Shareholder Returns
The repurchase program is part of IHG's capital return strategy introduced earlier this year, aimed at enhancing shareholder value through a lower outstanding share count.
Expansion Continues Worldwide
Alongside the buyback program, IHG continues expanding its global portfolio with new hotel projects, including developments in New South Wales, Australia, the conversion of InterContinental Bora Bora into a Regent resort, and plans for the first InterContinental resort in Malaysia.
The company is pursuing both long-term growth through international expansion and shareholder returns through its ongoing share repurchase program.
