Fortnite Confirms Sonic Will Join Chapter 7 Season 4: Override

Epic Games has officially confirmed that Sonic the Hedgehog will be part of the upcoming season of Fortnite, marking another major collaboration between the battle royale phenomenon and one of gaming's most recognizable franchises.

Chapter 7 Season 4, titled Override, is scheduled to launch on August 20, and early previews suggest it will embrace a strong video game crossover theme.

To announce the new season, Epic Games released a brief nine-second teaser featuring the iconic Green Hill Zone from the original Sonic the Hedgehog. The video shows Sonic sprinting through the famous loop before transitioning to Fortnite's beloved banana mascot, Peely, mimicking Sonic's signature running style from Sonic Adventure. The teaser concludes with the slogan, "Break the Rules, Change the Game," hinting at a season packed with surprises.

The official reveal also strengthens weeks of speculation from reliable Fortnite leakers, who have claimed that Override will focus heavily on collaborations with legendary video game franchises. Sonic had already been rumored to headline the season, alongside characters from Kingdom Hearts and Vampire Survivors.

More recently, prominent leakers, including HYPEX, have suggested that additional crossovers could feature franchises such as Persona, Minecraft, and even Tetris. Eagle-eyed fans noticed that the Sonic teaser briefly includes a cloud resembling the distinctive Z-shaped Tetris block, fueling speculation that the classic puzzle game could also become part of the season.

Fortnite has built a reputation for bringing together characters from across the entertainment world, and video game icons have become a major part of that strategy. Through its dedicated Gaming Legends Series, Epic Games has introduced dozens of beloved characters as playable skins and cosmetic items.

To date, nearly 70 characters from other gaming franchises have joined Fortnite, including heroes and villains from Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Metal Gear Solid, Halo, Mortal Kombat, Tomb Raider, God of War, Assassin's Creed, DOOM, and Cyberpunk 2077.

With Sonic now officially confirmed and more gaming crossovers expected to be revealed in the coming days, Overrideis shaping up to be one of Fortnite's most ambitious seasons yet, celebrating some of the biggest names in video game history while expanding the game's ever-growing multiverse.
