Forecast First Alert: Strong storms across the state this evening

A Forecast First Alert remains in place this evening as strong to severe thunderstorms continue developing across Minnesota. These storms are mainly baseline severe with damaging winds and hail as the primary threats. Though the severe threat is confined to the evening, some storms may linger well into the overnight hours and throughout the morning on Wednesday.

In addition to the severe threat, heavy rain is expected to blanket much of the state tonight into Wednesday morning, with some areas potentially picking up 1–2 inches or more. That means Wednesday’s morning commute could be slow and soggy, so plan ahead and give yourself extra time out the door.

The rest of Wednesday will stay cool and unsettled, with scattered showers continuing throughout the day and highs only reaching the upper 60s to low 70s.

By Thursday, sunshine and dry air return, delivering one of the nicest days of the week—mild temps and low humidity.
