Dolly Parton’s Sister Asks for Prayers as the Country Legend Faces Health Challenges

Dolly Parton’s sister has made a heartfelt plea to fans, asking for prayers as the country music icon faces new health struggles.

Just days after Dolly, 79, announced the postponement of her highly anticipated Las Vegas residency due to medical issues, her sister Freida Parton shared an emotional message on Facebook.

“Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly. Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I felt led to ask everyone who loves her to join me and be prayer warriors for her,” Freida wrote in her post on Tuesday, October 7.

She closed her message with a heart emoji, adding:

“She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted up for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!”

At the end of September, Dolly Parton announced that she would be delaying her Las Vegas performances by nearly a year to focus on her health.

“As many of you know, I’ve been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me I need to have a few procedures done. I joked with them that it must be time for my 100,000th check-up — though not with my plastic surgeon this time!” Dolly said with her signature humor.
“In all seriousness, I won’t be able to rehearse and prepare the kind of show I want you to see — the kind of show you deserve. You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my very best for you.”

Dolly had been set to begin her residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace this December, which would have marked her first extended Las Vegas run in over 30 years. The engagement is now rescheduled for September 2026.

The country superstar also reassured her fans that she has no plans to retire anytime soon.

“Don’t you worry about me quitting show business — God hasn’t told me to stop yet. But I do believe He’s telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for even bigger adventures with all of you.”

This health setback comes after a painful year for the beloved singer. In March, Dolly shared the heartbreaking news that her husband of 58 years, Carl Dean, had passed away at the age of 82.

Through it all, Dolly continues to embody resilience, grace, and faith — the very qualities that have made her one of America’s most treasured figures for more than six decades.
