Dodgers Aim for Sweep Over Phillies in Decisive NLDS Game
The Los Angeles Dodgers are looking to close out the series against the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium in Game 3 of the National League Division Series.
After winning the first two matchups in Philadelphia — both decided in the final inning — the Dodgers return home with a 2–0 advantage and a chance to clinch the series in front of their fans. In the opener, Los Angeles rallied from a 3–0 deficit to win 5–3, and in Game 2, nearly blew a 4–0 lead but held on to seal the victory.
On the mound, Yoshinobu Yamamoto (12–8, 2.49 ERA) starts for the Dodgers, while Aaron Nola (5–10, 6.01 ERA)takes the ball for the Phillies — though Philadelphia is expected to follow him with left-hander Ranger Suárez.
Broadcast: Game 3 will air on TBS and can be streamed on Sling TV.
Kershaw Returns as a Reliever in Possible Farewell
With the Dodgers trailing 3–1 in the seventh inning, manager Dave Roberts made a surprise move, calling Clayton Kershaw out of the bullpen. The veteran, who announced he’ll retire at the end of the season, made his first appearance of the 2025 postseason.
A three-time Cy Young Award winner and former MVP, Kershaw is considered a lock for the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Phillies Maintain Control and Extend the Lead
After a tight start, the Phillies’ offense broke out in the fourth inning. Kyle Schwarber launched a massive home run to tie the game. Bryce Harper then singled and later scored on an Andy Pages throwing error following Alec Bohm’s hit, which moved Bohm to third base. Brandon Marsh brought him home with a sacrifice fly, and J.T. Realmuto added a ground-rule double to keep the pressure on.
Yamamoto managed to escape further damage by retiring Max Kepler and Nick Castellanos, ending the frame with the Phillies up 3–1.
In the following innings, Anthony Banda (5th) and Jack Dreyer (6th) kept the Phillies from adding insurance runs despite a bases-loaded jam. Still, Philadelphia holds a 6–1 lead and looks determined to prevent the sweep.
