Reza Pahlavi, son of Iran's last Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi (who ruled the country from 1941 to 1979 with U.S. and Israeli support until being overthrown by the Islamic Revolution), proposed himself on Monday (June 23, 2025) to lead a political transition process in the country.

The exiled crown prince, who has lived in the U.S. for decades, told journalists he advocates for an "orderly" democratic transition to prevent "chaos and bloodshed" should Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's regime collapse. Pahlavi urged the international community to seize what he called a "decisive moment" in Iran's history.
