Clinton Pushes Back After Unauthorized Photo Surfaces During Deposition

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton threatened to end her deposition after Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) shared a photo of her during closed-door testimony before the House Oversight Committee as part of its investigation into Jeffrey Epstein.

The tension escalated when Clinton’s attorney objected to the image being circulated to conservative media outlets. Visibly frustrated, Clinton responded sharply.

“I’m done with this. If you guys are doing that, I am done. You can hold me in contempt from now until the cows come home. This is just typical behavior,” she said.

Under committee rules, lawmakers are barred from publicly sharing details, photos or video from a closed-door deposition unless official transcripts or recordings are released.

Although Boebert was off camera, she could be heard stating that the photo had been taken before the deposition formally began.

“It doesn’t matter. We are all abiding by the same rules,” Clinton replied.

“I will take that down,” Boebert responded, appearing to acknowledge the guidelines.

Clinton and former President Bill Clinton had initially resisted testifying in private but later requested that the proceedings be made public.

Following the dispute, the deposition briefly went off the record and video recording was paused. When the session resumed, Clinton’s attorney, Cheryl Mills, said the Clinton team sought to allow reporters into the room — a request that was denied.

“We find it unacceptable, we find it unprofessional and we find it unfair,” Mills said of the photo being shared.

Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) later stated that he had reprimanded members and made clear the conduct was inappropriate.

“I’ve advised my members that no photos or videos during the deposition can be released. I understand the posted photo was taken before the deposition started. That will not happen again,” Comer said.

After the deposition concluded, Boebert defended her actions in an interview with NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo.

“There were Democrats and members of the minority party releasing information about the hearing throughout the day — topics being discussed were being leaked to the media,” she said. “A lot of things were coming out of that room. But regardless, it was a photo.”

Ranking member Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) also condemned the incident once proceedings resumed.

“It’s completely unacceptable that Oversight Republicans chose to violate both committee rules and the agreement they negotiated directly with Secretary Clinton,” Garcia said, noting that the Clintons had requested a public hearing to avoid such disputes.
