About Great Performances: Suffs
Written by Tony Award winner Shaina Taub, who also stars as suffrage leader Alice Paul, Suffs was filmed during its Broadway run in December 2024 and tells the powerful story of the American women’s suffrage movement. The production explores the friendships, sacrifices, conflicts, and determination that shaped the decades-long campaign for women's voting rights.
The acclaimed cast includes Tony Award winners Nikki M. James as Ida B. Wells and Emily Skinner as Alva Belmont/Phoebe Burn, Tony nominee Jenn Colella as Carrie Chapman Catt, Hannah Cruz as Inez Milholland, Grace McLean as President Woodrow Wilson, and many other Broadway performers.
The production is part of PBS's Great Performances series and its "Broadway’s Best" collection, which showcases acclaimed theatrical productions and celebrates the artists behind them.
