Curious Black Bear Steals Golfer’s Clubs in Viral Canadian Golf Course Encounter

A routine round of golf in British Columbia turned into an unforgettable wildlife encounter after a curious black bear wandered onto the course, grabbed a golfer's bag of clubs and casually dragged it away—creating a viral sensation in the process.

The unusual incident occurred at Golden Eagle Golf Club in Pitt Meadows, where a group of golfers was preparing to tee off on the 12th hole when they noticed a black bear emerging from nearby brush.

According to one of the golfers, the animal appeared to be attracted by the scent of food stored inside or near the golf bag.

"We noticed a bear coming out of the bushes behind us and walking toward our golf cart," the golfer recalled. "We believe it caught the smell of some trail mix that was in the golf bag attached to the cart."

After inspecting the bag, the bear attempted to open it with its teeth. When that proved unsuccessful, it simply grabbed the entire bag and dragged it across the fairway while stunned golfers watched from a safe distance.

The amusing moment was captured on video, with one golfer jokingly calling out, "Those are my clubs, man!" as the four-legged visitor made off with the equipment.

The bear eventually abandoned the golf bag and wandered back into the surrounding wilderness, leaving the players with an unforgettable story and a video that quickly spread across social media.

Wildlife Experts Urge Caution

Although the footage has entertained millions of viewers, wildlife experts remind the public that black bears are wild animals whose behavior can be unpredictable.

Bears are naturally inquisitive and are often drawn to unfamiliar objects carrying the scent of food. Even small snacks left inside backpacks, golf bags or vehicles can attract their attention.

Experts advise anyone encountering a bear to remain calm, keep a safe distance, avoid approaching or feeding the animal, and allow it to leave the area on its own.

Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident, and the unexpected visitor eventually moved on without causing further problems.

While the encounter produced one of the year's most memorable golf videos, it also served as a reminder that sharing outdoor spaces with wildlife requires caution, respect and awareness.
