The defending WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces opened their postseason campaign in dominant fashion, defeating the Indiana Fever 102-85 in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series behind another spectacular performance from A'ja Wilson.

The four-time MVP delivered a masterclass on both ends of the floor, finishing with 38 points, 16 rebounds, four blocks, two assists, and two steals. Her efficiency was equally remarkable, as she became the first player in WNBA history—regular season or playoffs—to record at least 35 points and 15 rebounds while shooting 75% from the field.

Wilson's outstanding performance further cemented her place in league history. It marked her second career playoff game with at least 35 points and 15 rebounds, while extending her streak of consecutive 20-point postseason games to seven, tying one of the longest runs in WNBA playoff history.

Despite the historic outing, Wilson remained focused on the team's overall performance.

"I was just doing my job," she said after the game. "Our success started on the defensive end, and I wanted to contribute in whatever way my teammates needed."

Las Vegas Controls the Game

Indiana struggled to contain Wilson throughout the night as she scored from nearly every area of the court, knocking down mid-range jumpers, attacking the basket, converting second-chance opportunities, and even connecting from beyond the three-point line.

Aces head coach Becky Hammon praised her superstar's complete performance.

"She impacted every part of the game," Hammon said. "Scoring, rebounding, defense, blocks, steals—she was outstanding from start to finish."

Wilson's 11th career 30-point playoff game extended her own WNBA record, while her 18th postseason 20-point double-double also set a new league benchmark.

Balanced Offense Fuels Victory

Las Vegas received plenty of support from its supporting cast.

Jackie Young recorded a double-double with 21 points and 10 assists, while veteran point guard Chelsea Graycontributed 14 points and eight assists. Together, the trio accounted for 93 of the team's 102 points as the Aces shot nearly 60% from the field.

Fever Face Uphill Battle

Indiana's high-powered backcourt never found its rhythm against Las Vegas' defense.

Caitlin Clark finished with 15 points and a career playoff-high 10 assists, while Kelsey Mitchell added 12 points. However, the duo combined to shoot just 10-of-33 from the field as the Aces consistently disrupted their offensive flow.

Following the loss, Fever head coach Stephanie White acknowledged her team's difficult night and emphasized the opportunity to learn from the experience.

"Sometimes you have to be humbled before you can grow," White said. "We'll regroup, make adjustments, and be ready for the next game."

The best-of-three first-round series now shifts to Indiana, where the Fever will look to even the matchup in Game 2 on Tuesday.
